What is Celtic Shamanism
Shamanism is an ancient form of spiritual healing working on the body, mind, and spirit connection. There are those that say that Shamanism is in fact, the oldest form of healing on the planet, dating back approximately thirty thousand years and found in many indigenous cultures in North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Central and Northern Asia, Eastern and Northern Europe and Africa.
We are the ancient healers guided to help others by our Creator/God and our teachers before us.
The techniques used have withstood the test of time, and are amazingly similar around the world despite geographic, and cultural differences among those practicing this mode of healing.
There are the very ancient of healing techniques that include transmuting disease, harmonizing imbalances whether emotional, spiritual or physical; soul connections, re-alignments, retrievals of soul parts; power animal retrieval (where the shaman brings back a spiritual guardian, usually in the form of a power animal to help restore power to an individual), all paths lead us into healing and bringing the person back into alignment and wholeness.
Shamanism utilizes many methods by which we bring about shamanic forms of healing ranging from soul re-connections, removal of intrusive energies, soul remembering, ancestral work, transitioning (assisting as the body and spirit separate in the cross over into the Light) and hands on healing.
Shamans work with spiritual allies (God, Ascended Masters, Ancestors) who are always present in the healing process and continually guide in the healing process.
The goal of the Shaman is to remain clear and be an open channel from which God’s healing, wisdom, and love flow through us and allow for the healing process to take place in others.
A shaman is a healer who moves into an altered state of consciousness to access the hidden reality of the spirit world for the purpose of bringing back healing, power and information. The word shaman translates into meaning: "one who sees in the dark" (the hidden realities), and widely refers to those who are medicine women/men, healers, and seers; using all of our senses into gathering information and assisting those in healing and understanding that healing process.
Shamans believe that all problems, physical, emotional or mental, have their root cause in spiritual/emotional imbalances that are caused in life, and we work to restore not only balance, but a true alignment to our purpose in "being" and in, bringing back "wholeness," addressing the real or core root of the problem.
Shamanic practices have endured the test of time spanning back thousands of years and are just as relevant in today's world of stress and illness bringing teachings into practice; teaching us about nature, and how it heals and balances us, revitalizing and shifting our consciousness, allowing us to open to the world of mystery that is so intrinsic to our core energy, and the sacred to our healing and wellness of today.
Celtic shamanism is an ancient practice that is still used today by modern day shamans. Celtic shamanism is very similar to other forms of shamanism, in that priests/ priestesses, or spiritual counselors act as healers in their communities.
Celtic Shamans are gifted with opening and maintaining communication with the higher realms and energies of Creator/God.
Some of the differences between Celtic shamanism and other forms of shamanism are the uses of ancient Celtic symbols like the Tree of Life, and our connection to nature, land, water, animals.
The Tree of Life plays an important role in Celtic shamanism and indeed, in general Celtic traditions. The Tree of Life is used as a focal point to gain entry to other, spiritual words, and our higher self-consciousness.
So much of what we believe in resides in the knowing of the "other" worlds that also connect us to our journey and knowing of purpose.
The Upper World, is the realm of the sky, stars and heavens.
The Middle world is the one we all live in, but it may contain different dimensions that shaman often visit and commune with.
The Underworld, it is not darkness and evil as some might believe, rather the Underworld is a place where ancestors reside and offer their learning and wisdom to the living. The Underworld brings life and healing to shaman who visit this realm.
Celtic circles and our love of them are about understanding the energy that surrounds us when we form a bond and create the energy and power within a circle; used to enclose the shaman while we journey into the spiritual realms to bring forth understanding, wisdom, insight and ultimately healing of body, mind and spirit.
